From April 30 to May 1, 2019 we will be taking 12 graduate students to the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where they will get a first hand opportunity to shadow a state representative or state senator, one-on-one, to better understand the state legislative process and state government.
Students will participate in committee hearings for that legislator, sit in on constituent meetings, and join the legislator on the chamber floor to witness debate and votes. We need your help to reduce the financial burden for students to participate in the project which consists of Amtrak fare, one night’s hotel and meals.
Several students who have attended in past years have been able use the experience and networking from the program to secure future employment and be able to better understand state legislation and government in their roles in public and nonprofit organizations within Chicago.
A gift of this level will cover half the cost of a train ticket from Chicago to Springfield.
A gift of this amount will cover a full one-way ticket on Amtrak.
Double your impact with a gift at this level, which will cover a night's lodging for TWO students!
