On Dec. 7, 2019, people in more than 50 cities around the world will “sleep out” in parks, public places, and backyards to create the world’s largest-ever display of solidarity for people experiencing homelessness and displacement around the globe. DePaul University is pleased to host Chicago’s Big Sleep Out to raise awareness and funds to help the more than 9,000 Chicagoans who are experiencing street and shelter homelessness. As an urban university, DePaul is deeply involved in the life of a global community. It assists in finding just solutions to community problems, especially those which impact our most vulnerable neighbors.
Chicago's Big Sleep Out will be taking place at the Quad on DePaul University's Lincoln Park campus on Dec. 7, 2019. Funds you contribute here will go directly to the Institute of Global Homelessness at DePaul (IGH), which drives a global movement to end street homelessness. IGH will serve as the "legacy partner" and offer support services to all Sleep Out cities around the world to catalyze the energy and momentum of the event into long-term strategies that will effectively address homelessness.
Donate $20 or more and you will receive a complimentary invitation to attend the Sleep Out (indoor!) program from 7-9 p.m.!
The Institute of Global Homelessness aims to help reduce or end street homelessness in cities the world over, by the year 2030.
On a single night in America in 2018, over 550,000 people were experiencing homelessness.
One hundred million people around the world are experiencing homelessness.
The Institute of Global Homelessness's goal is to support 150 cities in ending street homelessness around the world.
