Support students in recovery.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This is a time when we ask our community to support resources, education, and an effort to destigmatize mental illness. DePaul offers resources to support all of our students experiencing mental health challenges; with this campaign we are focused on raising funds to better support our students in recovery.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration describes recovery as, “A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full-potential.” DePaul University is committed to supporting students in recovery, whether that’s from substance abuse, disordered eating or any mental health-related issue. Alumni and friends of DePaul can help students in recovery by giving to the Collegiate Recovery Community project. Gifts will be used to support a multi-faceted approach to supporting students who identify as in recovery from substance use and mental illness. This will include:

1. Enhancing initiatives that grow the number of recovery allies on campus;

2. Educating about and de-stigmatizing substance use, mental health, eating concerns, and recovery; and

3. Directly supporting the Collegiate Recovery Community on campus.

Gifts to the Collegiate Recovery Community project are part of Now We Must - The Campaign for DePaul's Students, an initiative created to support students facing urgent need. Your contribution to mental health and wellness at DePaul will ensure that online programs, personal outreach and health professionals remain at the ready to care for our students—resources that, at this crucial time, may have a lifelong effect. If you are or know of a student in need of mental health support, visit go.depaul.edu/UCS.
