Greetings! I'm Lauren "Terry" Barry (CSH '61), and I have a question for you: Will you step up to the challenge?
Since its founding in 1898, DePaul University has remained committed to its Vincentian heritage by helping generations of students from all walks of life fulfill their dreams of a college education. Each year, 86 percent (that’s over 18,000 students!) qualify for and receive financial aid, helping them close the gap between what they can afford to pay and the cost of their education.
I've been inspired by these hardworking, tenacious students to issue a challenge to my fellow alumni. This June, if 250 or more alumni make a gift of any amount to the General Scholarship Fund, I will provide a $5,000 1898 Society Scholarship to a student, starting in the Fall Quarter. The General Scholarship Fund helps continue DePaul's commitment to being accessible to all students by funding need-based scholarships.
I'm committing this $5,000 scholarship as a part of DePaul's new 1898 Society, a group of supporters committed to providing access to education with gifts of $1,898 or more per year. I invite DePaul alumni from all generations to join me in this commitment to accessibility by making a gift by June 30, 2018.
