Great, original comedies allow us to embrace our insecurities and develop our own sense of individuality. Sun King, immediately caught our attention because it reminded us of the comedies we grew up watching, where the films made us laugh, made us uncomfortable, and ultimately allowed us to empathize with characters who were vastly different from us.
Now more then ever the world is in desperate need of diverse and inclusive stories about individuals fulfilling their lives through their passions. This is a story that represents our changing world through a comedic lens and explores a palpable situation where the characters feel lost and long for acceptance, which resonates deeply with us all today. The absurdness of the plot creates an opportunity to explore themes that pertains to the strangeness in all of us, and how sometimes it comes down to living within that weirdness, instead of hiding behind it.
With an every changing sociology, leads us to ever changing technology. Technology that continues to advance that makes our lives easier and more affordable. The team of Sun King plans to make a statement by creating a feature film with a micro low budget. Using technology accessible to the novice filmmaker. Proving that the technology has finally caught up with the art form, and therefore motivating and aspiring young filmmakers to go out and make films within reasonable means.
