Your generous contribution will help create a scholarship that will allow a student from the Theatre School to attend the Greece Summer Acting Intensive 2020. This scholarship will be awarded with preference to a student of color or a student who is interested in working with/improving the role of students of color in theatre. Our goal at GSAI is to promote diversity and inclusion both in participation in the arts, and participation in study abroad.
The Greece Summer Acting Intensive is a seventeen day study-abroad program that dives deep into Greek drama, mythology, storytelling and ancient culture. The syllabus includes rigorous physical acting and voice training, acro-yoga, mask work, ritual theatre, stage combat and ensemble improvisation techniques all taught by local Greek theatre artists and the program's director, Theatre School professor Jeff Mills. In addition to intensive training, the students take field trips to the ancient ruins at Mycenae, the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, the theatre at Epidaurus and many ancient sites and museums in Athens.
