Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Laser Chains have always been a fun, spirited, and competitive team to be a part of, but we haven’t always had more than a full line to play. Fortunately, over the past couple years, the Laser Chains have expanded immensely, not only by gaining athletes who have played in high school, but also a ton of rookies who decided they wanted to be a part of this team and ultimate community for the first time! This has not only made practices more effective and fun, but also increased our performance at tournaments. Unfortunately, with all of these positives comes more cost and therefore more money needed to fund tournaments, uniforms, gear and more. That’s why we decided to start this campaign!
Throughout the year, we have various costs, with some of the largest ones concerning our tournaments. For tournaments, we have to fund the tournament bid fee (normally around $450), travel to and from the tournaments (normally located around the Midwest) and lodging for 20+ people. These are large costs, and things that not everyone on the team can afford to pay for, on top of things like uniforms, cleats, USAU memberships, etc.
Further, this year, we are attending two tournaments: one in Columbia, MO called Midwestern Throwdown and one in Columbus, OH called CWRUL. Both of these tournaments are a 5-6 hour drive from Chicago that our players must use their own cars to travel to. On top of that, we need to lodge the entire team for 2 nights in a hotel or Airbnb. These tournaments have a lot of competitive teams attending which will be a great opportunity for us to use what we have been learning in practice and see some teams we do not see very often! We need your help to get us to these tournaments to play competitive ultimate before our College Conference Championship in April where we hope to earn a spot and go to Regionals, one of our goals this year. A large portion of this campaign will help fund those costs so we can fund the whole team’s trip to these tournaments, as the funding we receive from DePaul won’t be able to cover it all!
Besides tournaments, we also use our team money to help buy uniforms for rookies, fund USA Ultimate membership dues (something each player must have to participate in tournaments), buy discs and cones, and much more.
All in all, any money you are able to give to help our team continue to grow is much appreciated and will be going to good use. Ultimate Frisbee is a great sport and something that we want everyone to have the opportunity to play without cost ever being a barrier!

A gift of this amount will cover the cost of a pair of Frisbee traction gloves for cold or rainy games (a common situation in the Midwest).
This will cover the cost of one USAU membership - a requirement for each player.
A gift of this amount will cover the cost of one player's uniform/kit.
A gift of this amount will cover the cost for gas and tolls for the entire team to travel to one tournament!
A gift at this level will allow us to book a hotel room or Airbnb for one night for the whole team!
