NEW - stretch goal: $4,500!
What we’ve raised so far will cover the cost of printing our anthology, executing our end of the year events, and offset the cost of new equipment. With your contribution, we can fully fund new equipment, apply for additional student journalism awards, set aside money for journalism organization membership renewals and provide professional development workshops for our newsroom.
Why are these important? 14 East is a student newsroom, and we don’t just push students to learn more about Chicago – we want them to grow, too. By having money to put on more events in our Public Newsroom series, and workshops for our staff, we’ll be able to grow as reporters and as a community, together. Award entries help push our work onto a regional and national stage and allow more people to see the work we’ve accomplished. And providing money for staff members to join organizations like the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) or the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) allows them to connect with other journalists with shared backgrounds who can be mentors or possibly employers in the future.

Hello, we are the staff of DePaul’s award-winning 14 East Magazine. Thanks for visiting our page! We are student journalists that publish longform stories every week on our website, http://fourteeneastmag.com/. Any student can contribute stories, art, video, photography and other content to our multimedia magazine. In our reporting, we strive for inclusivity and transparency with our readers and writers.
Our goal for this campaign is to fundraise to sustain our organization. We have several big events in Spring Quarter and donating to our campaign will help us keep our traditions going. At the end of every year, we publish a physical anthology of our work. We also host 14 East Live, an event where we read our stories aloud. Your contributions will allow us to publish and celebrate our work!
In 2020, 14 East received the Pinnacle Award from the College Media Association for the best four-year college media outlet of the year. 14 East is also celebrating two years of our bilingual Spanish publication Pueblo, and two years of our weekly newsletter In the Loop.
If you can, please donate to our page! It would mean a lot :)
