PERFORMATHON
Welcome to the Community Music Division’s 27th annual PERFORMATHON. This event features over 200 students of all ages who will share their musical skills in a “marathon” recital day of performances in support of the Community Music Division (CMD). As our only fundraiser, revenue from PERFORMATHON supports need-based tuition scholarships, educational enrichment programs, and our CPS Teaching Artist Partnership Program, which provides customized music education to under-resourced CPS schools.
To celebrate 35 years of music-making by our community school founded in 1988, we ask you to join us in meeting our goal of $35,000 for this important event. Music is and continues to be a unifying force, a source of inspiration, and a creative outlet for our students, and we hope you can help us ‘continue the music’ by donating today. Gifts of any amount are deeply appreciated with specific suggestions located on the right side of this page.
COMMUNITY MUSIC DIVISION
The Community Music Division (CMD) of DePaul University’s School of Music offers the highest quality music instruction to students of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds. We are committed to an inclusive learning environment that respects the diversity and perspectives of all participants.
Founded in 1988, CMD is an established community music school that provides the Chicago area with access to quality music studies for both children and adults. Offering a broad range of programs for students beginning their musical journey and to those in more advanced stages of their musical development, CMD serves over 600 students each year with a faculty of 70 professional artist-educators. CMD’s curriculum includes individual lessons, small group classes, performance ensembles, and student recitals.
In addition to our on-site music instruction, CMD partners with Chicago Public Schools and Uniting Voices Chicago. The CPS Teaching Artist Partnership Program, staffed by graduate teaching artists from the DePaul School of Music, provides tuition-free customized instruction to over 200 students in under-resourced schools. Our long-time association with Uniting Voices Chicago has introduced thousands of children to the joys and benefits of choral music education.
Underwrite one year of costs for an under-resourced CPS school in the Teaching Artist Partnership Program.
Honor your family’s commitment to music education by creating a scholarship in your name that will provide 3 students with one year of free CMD tuition.
