Phi Alpha Delta Professional Development Fund

Hey everyone! We are Phi Alpha Delta (P.A.D.), Story Law Chapter, at DePaul University College of Law. Thank you for your interest in our page and our organization!

Who We Are

Phi Alpha Delta is the world's preeminent law fraternity. Through the devotion of ideals of diversity, innovation, integrity, professionalism and service, we ensure our Law Student members success in law school and beyond in their legal careers.

P.A.D. was established in 1902 in Chicago, Illinois. P.A.D. was a fraternity of firsts starting long ago.

In 1969, the first international Chapters were started in Canada and Puerto Rico.

In 1970, P.A.D. became the first major law fraternity to admit women into membership.

Since its founding in 1902, P.A.D. has grown to 213 Law Chapters, 268 Pre-Law Chapters and 109 Alumni Chapters.

Prominent P.A.D. members include, but are not limited to:

Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden; U.S. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomator; Former U.S. Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg; Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; U.S. State Senators Lisa Murkowski and Rick Scott; Erin Brockovich, Johnnie Cochran, and more!

What We Aim To Do:

We, P.A.D., Story Chapter, at DePaul University College of Law, aim to cultivate leaders for our organization, DePaul University College of Law, and the legal community in Chicago and nation-wide.

We aim to foster a community of members with a strong bond; a passion for helping better our Chicago community; and foster excellence in scholarship, moral, intellectual and cultural advancement, and professionalism so that each member may enjoy a lifetime of honorable professional and public service.

But to do that, we need your help! ANY AMOUNT HELPS! The minimum donation amount is $1!

What Your Contribution Will Go Towards:

Your dollars will go towards ensuring our P.A.D. Story Law Chapter members will be able to:

(1) Join P.A.D.

Some Law Students are not able to pay our dues. Your money will help those that wish to join P.A.D., but cannot do so due to requiring financial assistance, a chance to be a part of a great organization!

(2) Attend P.A.D.'s National Events, including, but not limited to: P.A.D's Mock Trial and Convention.

P.A.D.'s Law School Mock Trial Competition is an opportunity for Story Chapter members to practice their trial advocacy skills in a courtroom setting. Students develop skills including creative problem solving, effective collaboration, forming a persuasive argument, public speaking, and thinking on their feet. This Competition provides the opportunity for four P.A.D. Law Chapter members to compete on a national level and be judged by volunteer lawyers and judges who offer real-world feedback.

The team's registration, which includes registration for four student competitors, meals at the competition, and all competition receptions and materials, costs $550.

P.A.D.'s Convention & Leadership Conference is a great way for Chapter members to network with hundreds of P.A.D. members, attend workshops, and participate in receptions.

Convention registration for a Law Student Member is $375.

Your donation will help ensure any student that wishes to gain invaluable experience from these opportunities can do so.

(3) Put on Networking Events to Ensure Professional Development and Advancement.

Every semester, Story Chapter puts on events that help give P.A.D. members a chance to network with P.A.D. alumni, learn about different legal practice areas, and be able to destress from all that law school demands for an afternoon surrounded by their fellow fraternity members.

We often put on Alumni Networking Events, Speaker Events, and Community Service Events.

To ensure we have the supplies and money we need to be able to put these events on, your money will go a long way!

Thank you for your time and contribution! Please reach out to PAD@depaul.edu for any further questions.
